I survived the first week


This is the end of my first week of my diet and exercise plan.  I haven’t been able to exercise yet (no clearance from the doc until I have full range of motion back in my knee), but I’ve gone ahead and started the diet plan.

Read on for details and results…

Details:

  • 6 meals per day:  Breakfast, morning snack, lunch, afternoon snack, dinner, evening snack (usually around 8:00)  Try to eat every 2 hours.
  • 30-40 grams of carbs for regular meals (breakfast,lunch,dinner), 20 grams of carbs per snack.
  • Avoid sugar (white sugar, corn syrup, etc) go easy on starch (wheat bread is ok, but avoid potatoes and other starchy foods)
  • Cheated like crazy on Friday. (Game 7 Stanley Cup finals, had 2 bratwursts (w/buns) and assorted “cookout food”)
  • No exercise this week. Limited mobility.

Results:

  • Current Weight:  331
  • Start Weight: 334
  • Goal Weight by 9/1/2009: 300
  • Weight Loss to Date: 3 pounds
  • Weight loss by 9/1/2009 at current pace: 36 pounds

Plan for this week:

  • Tighter control over starches this week
  • No cheat day
  • Light exercise by end of week, if knee keeps healing at this pace.
  • Work on weekend diet plan.  More difficult to keep schedule as I am not in a daily routine on weekends.
