Considering there is already a website selling t-shirts at http://www.thatone08.com I’d say that McCain fucked up big time by pointing to a US Senator and calling him “That One”.
At least he didn’t say “boy”…
The “Terrorist!” and “Kill him!” bit is another story. No, McCain can’t control what his crowds say, but he *can* show the leadership skills required to stop his speech and say “No. Barack Obama is an American like all of us, and as much as I disagree with him politically, there is no call for demanding his assassination. You are wrong, sir.”
If McCain had stones that big, I’d consider switching my vote.
Of course, if my aunt had balls, she’d be my uncle.
The “elephant in the room” (no pun intended) is that despite McCain’s oft-repeated tales of heroism nearly 35 years ago, Senator John McCain has repeatedly shown a willingness to sell out his principles for personal gain.
He unceremoniously dumped his first wife, the same wife who waited for McCain to come home from Vietnam all those years, to marry a woman, 18 years his junior, who just happened to be worth a ton of money.
Karl Rove, who outrageously and unjustly used racial apprehensions to scuttle McCain’s primary campaign in 2000, is now backing McCain’s campaign.
Of course, such “unwavering loyalty” cuts both ways, this is the same John McCain who opposed Bush in the 2000 primaries, then embraced him during the general election and for the next 8 years, but is now working hard to distance himself from one of the most unpopular presidents in American history.
